Barking Dogs

The Town of Copper Canyon prohibits the maintenance of an Animal Nuisance in Sec. 2.103 as "The following activities, conduct, or condition of an animal and allowed by the owner are deemed a nuisance and are hereby prohibited: ... Causing a disturbance by excessive barking, crying, or howling near the private residence of another; ...

After receiving numerous complaints, we have asked the Constable to monitor for animal nuisance violations. The fine for violations is $500.00 per day.

Barking or howling excessively is evidence of a stressed animal. We urge our residents to bring their animals in at night and at other times when they are barking or howling. There have been sightings of a large bobcat in the western portions of the Town, as well as the normal nocturnal animals which inhabit our rural area. Animals which are unrestrained can easily be injured or killed.

Please take care of your animals and show courtesy to your neighbors.

Work to restore the permanent paving on Meadow Drive is scheduled to begin Monday, January 7, 2008 at 7:00 a.m.

WHAT TO EXPECT: The initial construction phase will be to mill the temporary surface and mix a cement stabilizer into the subgrade. This mixture will be compacted by roller and allowed to set for three (3) days. The second phase will be to install two layers of asphalt a total of 3 ½ inches thick. If weather does not delay construction, the total installation should be completed within six to eight work days.

INCONVENIENCE TO RESIDENTS: Access to all driveways will be kept open to residents of Meadow Drive throughout construction. Temporary blockage of any individual driveway will be limited to periods of less than one-half (1/2) hour while equipment is operating at any specific location. It is okay to drive on the cement stabilized subgrade immediately following installation and while it cures. If rain occurs during this curing period, the surface may become hard and slick, so, please exercise caution when driving on it.

Any driveway entrance that is impassable due to the temporary grade differential prior to the final asphalt installation (approximately 3 inches) will be re-filled with temporary surface material for ease of access. Please contact Town Hall at (940) 241-2677 if service is needed.

The installation of new paving will be to the existing grade of driveways. Any necessary modification of drive approaches will be reviewed by the Town Engineer and scheduled through the Town as quickly as possible.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK VEHICLES ON THE ROADSIDE DURING THE PERIOD OF CONSTRUCTION.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION MAY BE OBTAINED ON THE TOWN WEBSITE (www.coppercanyon-tx.org) OR BY CALLING
TOWN HALL AT (940) 241-2677

SPECIAL NOTICE TO RESIDENTS OF MEADOW DRIVE: Your Town Council and Staff would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to all residents of Meadow Drive who have waited patiently since last April for work to be completed on Hidden Creek Estates in order for the repair of your neighborhood street to be scheduled. The final preparation of the subdivision will be completed and opened for new residential construction by mid-February of this year. The installation of paving on Meadow Drive will be strong enough to withstand anticipated residential construction traffic without damage.

Following installation of the paving on Meadow Drive, a reception will be scheduled at Town Hall to allow us to thank each of you personally. During the pavement installation, or anytime thereafter, that you need to report a problem with access to your homes, please contact the Town Administrator, Quentin Hix, at (940) 241-2677 (ofc) or (972) 345-3036 (cell). Every effort will be made to accommodate your needs.

Brush Pickup - Citations Will Issue if Placed Out Early!

Bulk pickup day in Copper Canyon is the first Monday of each month.

The Town's contract with Allied Waste for bulk pickup specifies use of a hand loaded bulk truck for monthly bulk pickups. Household trash, such as old appliances, can be hand loaded without much difficulty. Tree trimmings, branches, and fencing materials however, cannot be loaded by hand unless they are cut to a maximum 4' length and bundled and tied with twine into manageable bundles. The maximum amount per household is 1.5 cubic yards per month. This is about the size of one refrigerator. No limbs over four inches should be included.

Citizens can arrange to have excess bulk trimmings picked up by calling Allied Waste to schedule a special pay pickup within seven days of your call. The cost is $1.50 per minute of load time with most loads able to be picked up in ten minutes or less. The charge will appear on your next monthly statement and you do not have to be home at the time. Tree trimmings still must be cut, bundled and tied.

Questions and calls for pay pickup may be made to Allied Waste at 940-648-9540.

Before You Build

Before you build – a Reminder

Planning a new project? Before you start construction on a new building or remodeling an existing one, please contact Town Hall to determine whether or not you need a permit. Permits are required for many projects. For example, permits are required when building a new house, remodeling an existing house, building an accessory building, installing a pool, re-decking or re-roofing a house. Permits may also be required when doing dirt work if you are working within a flood plain or in an area greater than one acre. Failure to obtain the proper permits may result in a fine.

Please build smart and get your permits before you start work. Stop by or Call Town Hall to be sure you have the permits you need.
