Barking Dogs
The Town of Copper Canyon prohibits the maintenance of an Animal Nuisance in Sec. 2.103 as "The following activities, conduct, or condition of an animal and allowed by the owner are deemed a nuisance and are hereby prohibited: ... Causing a disturbance by excessive barking, crying, or howling near the private residence of another; ...
After receiving numerous complaints, we have asked the Constable to monitor for animal nuisance violations. The fine for violations is $500.00 per day.
Barking or howling excessively is evidence of a stressed animal. We urge our residents to bring their animals in at night and at other times when they are barking or howling. There have been sightings of a large bobcat in the western portions of the Town, as well as the normal nocturnal animals which inhabit our rural area. Animals which are unrestrained can easily be injured or killed.
Please take care of your animals and show courtesy to your neighbors.

Verizon reported this week that they have fallen behind in their scheduling. Almost all the cable conduit has now been run with the exception of some to be finished in the Woodlands. There will be two more crews coming through, the first to run the cable through the conduit and the second to splice the cables together. At that point, they will be ready to take orders and start running lines to individual residences. Verizon now anticipates being complete sometime in late October or November.
